How it works

  1. A free survey and a written quote showing the price, the grant and anything left to pay.
  2. You apply to SEAI online. SEAI checks your payment and sends a Letter of Offer. No work starts before it arrives.
  3. We install, usually in 1 to 2 days, and notify ESB Networks.
  4. The paperwork and a post-works BER go to SEAI, and the grant is paid once the works are complete.

The house must have been built and lived in before 2025, and it must not have had an SEAI solar grant before.

We’ll ring you, go through the grant with you, and book a free survey if it suits.

Step 1 of 3

Where’s the house?

We look at the roof on the map before we ring you.

Whose property is it?

That’s fine. The owner will need to agree to the work, and we’re happy to talk to them for you.

Questions we’re asked

Is the installation free?
No. The enhanced grant covers up to €8,400 of the panels and €600 of a battery of 5 kWh or more. Your written quote shows the price, the grant and anything left to pay, and you approve it before anything happens.
How do I know if I qualify?
The grant is for homeowners who get certain Department of Social Protection payments, such as Fuel Allowance or Working Family Payment, and the payment must be in the homeowner’s own name. SEAI publishes the full list and checks eligibility. Tell us which payment you get and we’ll help you check.
What about the Warmer Homes Scheme?
Warmer Homes is SEAI’s separate, fully funded route. SEAI’s own contractor surveys the home and decides the works, which can take a long time. With the enhanced grant you choose your installer and your system.
I’m renting. Can I apply?
The grant goes to the homeowner, so a tenant would need to ask their landlord.
